Effective Methods To Train Your Dog Sometimes, it can be hard to know the proper ways to train your dog. The best way to ensure that you are doing everything you can to train your dog and build on your relationship with your dog, is to learn as much as you can about dog training. Look at this article with care, as it is geared towards helping you. Teaching your dog a fun trick, such as "play dead" can be a fun way of distracting him. When your dogs behavior is bad, simply use the command you have established for his trick instead of using negative punishment. This provides for a fun activity for your dog and creates a positive environment for you as well. With aggressive dogs it is best to begin slowly. Aggressive dogs see themselves as the dominant role in the pack and trying to take that role from them too quickly can result in a negative response from the animal. To avoid bites or difficulty, take small steps in establishing yourself as the pack leader. Don't interact with your dog when you are frustrated or angry. Simply put your dog up and take a break. Training will proceed much more efficiently when you return. Each of you will be rested, have a fresh outlook, and be ready to tackle that seemingly elusive training task once again. When teaching a puppy basic commands, start with 'sit'. This is the easiest one for a dog to master. Hold his favorite snack just above his nose, and firmly say 'sit'. Most dogs will instinctively sit down at this point. Offer him the treat and don't forget to praise him profusely. If he doesn't sit, gently push his rear end towards the floor. After he has been sitting for a few seconds, give him the treat, and like before, remember to praise him. A very important command that any dog should know is 'stay'. Not only can this command stop him from doing something dangerous like running into the street, it can calm him down in a strange place. Firstly, tell him to 'sit'. Hold him in the sitting position, repeating the word 'stay'. Praise him with a treat, all the time ensuring that he stays seated. The key to potty training a new puppy is consistency. Remember that when he is with his mother, he can relieve himself whenever he needs to, so it will take some time for him to learn that he must wait for someone to take him outside to go to the bathroom. In dog training, use the same volume and tone of voice when you state a command. Your dog will learn to recognize your tone and know they should obey. It is important that your dog be able to distinguish between a command and a reprimand. With all of the information you have just read, you should have a better idea about how you want to train your dog, now. The only way you are going to see success with your dog is if you actually apply the knowledge you have learned. Try to the best of your ability to do just that and you should see results.
